Turtle Awareness & Nurdle Hunt Session 🐢 Join us for a unique learning experience that combines turtle conservation awareness with hands-on action against plastic pollution on UAE beaches. As the 2026 turtle nesting season begins and following the recent nurdle spill affecting UAE coastlines, this session will equip participants with the knowledge and skills to help protect marine wildlife and coastal habitats. Participants will learn how to identify signs of turtle nesting activity, recognize turtle tracks and potential nest sites, and understand the correct procedures for reporting observations responsibly. The session will also introduce participants to nurdles—small pre-production plastic pellets used to manufacture most plastic products. Despite their size, nurdles are a major source of microplastic pollution and are often mistaken for food by marine animals, including sea turtles and seabirds. Through the Nurdle Hunt, participants will contribute to important data collection efforts while helping remove plastic pollution from the beach. What You Will Learn An introduction to turtle nesting in the UAE and why nesting beaches are important. How to identify turtle tracks and signs of nesting activity. Responsible wildlife observation and reporting protocols. The impacts of microplastics and nurdles on marine ecosystems. How citizen science and community action support conservation efforts. Packing List Sports or casual outdoor clothing Sun hat Comfortable closed-toe shoes Sunscreen Reusable water bottle Light snacks   Together, we can help protect nesting turtles, reduce plastic pollution, and contribute to healthier marine ecosystems for future generations. 🌊🐢♻️
