Masterclass: Data From a Weekend in The Field
SEP 21 2026
01:00 PM - 02:00 PM
Online
What can a community do in six hours? A weekend of hunting nurdles for International Coastal Cleanup Day, and running a full litter survey for World Cleanup Day. As a result, we will have a valuable set of data to walk through collectively. Join us online as we open it all up. In one hour we'll turn the weekend's raw numbers into a picture anyone can read; we'll also introduce the two free tools behind the numbers — The Great Nurdle Hunt and CleanSwell — so you can survey your own stretch of beach or land, on your own time, and have your findings count toward global datasets. What to expect The weekend in numbers — nurdle counts and litter survey results, explained in plain language Why nurdles matter: what they are, how they get here, and why they're the second-largest source of microplastic pollution by weight on beaches worldwide A live walkthrough of The Great Nurdle Hunt and CleanSwell — how to log a survey in under 10 minutes How to turn a solo walk into useful citizen science data Live Q&A Details Date: Monday, 21 September 2026 Time: 5:00 – 6:00 PM (GST) Where: Online — joining link shared on registration
